Guadalupe River Fishing Report and Current Conditions: Updated Friday November 21, 2025. Canyon Lake Dam release was clear and cold at 70 cfs. The weather is overcast with temps in the low 70's. There was a nice Trico hatch this morning in anticipation for the rainbow trout stocking tomorrow morning. There were also caddis and Damsels. We hope to see you on the river this weekend. Fly Fishing the Guadalupe River for Rainbow Trout: Updated Sunday November 23, 2025. Guadalupe River flow was 100 cfs with clear conditions. Adam and Jake joined us for a fly fishing lesson/float trip. The weather was nice with partly cloudy skies and temps in the high 60's. The guys caught on pretty quickly. The bite was a bit tricky but we did okay with a couple of feisty rainbows and many more hook ups. The rainbow trout had a break from fishing for Thanksgiving. There was nobody out until late afternoon. There was a nice mayfly hatch and there were a few fish rising to sip dries. The weather was cold with light rain in the low 40's. We only saw a couple of brave fishers on the water. We didn't see any hatches. We'll be out again tomorrow and the next few days though. We had a fly fishing lesson with Carl and Elissa from far east Texas. We learned distance casting, the roll cast, and we learned the pick-up laydown cast. We also learned to read the water. The day was overcast with light rain and temps in the low 50's, We saw some Pale morning duns hatching, but no fish rising. The release from Canyon Lake was clear and cold with a few fishers on the water. The conditions were beautiful with clear blue skies and temps in the low 70's for the afternoon. We saw caddis flies hatching, damsels and mayflies too. There was a little topwater action as the trout sipped the flies. Half day guided fly fishing lesson/trip with Lindsey from San Antonio produced a new fly fisher and some nice Guadalupe trout. The weather was cool in the morning with clear blue skies and high temps in the low 70's. The flow was clear and cold. There were nice hatches with tricos, damsels, and caddis flies. We saw a little topwater action, but we landed our trout on nymphs. The egg patterns and emergers were working. There were others on the river, but it was not crowded. The weather started out with fog and drizzle but cleared out around mid morning for a beautiful day in the low 70s range. There were very few people on the river. They all three sharpened their rafting and rowing skills while drifting nymphs and targeting Guadalupe rainbow trout. The weather started off cold with temps around the freezing mark. It started off cool and the winds howled as a dry cold front blew in. There was a massive Beta and Trico hatch with some Caddis too. There were quite a few people on the water but not overly crowded. They range in size from 13 to 25 inches. The weather yesterday was really windy with difficult conditions. We had a hard time controlling the raft in the 30 mph winds. The flow was good with clear conditions. The best flies were the Squirmy in orange and Zug Bugs. Also beads with trout egg imitations were good attractors. The skies were cloudy until late afternoon, when the sun broke through. Bear Creek was coming in a little muddy, but not real bad. The trout were hungry and we got some nice action on our nymph rigs. There was a nice mayfly hatch in the late afternoon with Tricos and some Caddis too. We started out with fly casting lessons on the shore and then we got into the raft and floated/fished about 3 river miles. The catching was pretty slow, but we got a few fish anyway. There was a nice Mayfly hatch on the river, but no fishermen, or women to enjoy it. We didn't see anybody else out. We did see some rising trout and they were sipping tricos.
