the third crossing on the Guadalupe River below Canyon Lake revealed a husband and wife "couple" fishing. The

Lake Dam release was 300 cfs with relatively clear water with chalky green stain. Kerry Howell and Bill Cason from Austin
Texas joined Expedition Outfitters guide Kevin Stubbs for a six mile float on the Guadalupe River. The weather started
out foggy but quickly cleared to reveal a beautifully mild winter day with high temps around 80 degrees F. The bite
was good with multiple hard fighting rainbow trout. Some of the fish were hogs approaching the four pound class. There
were lots of fishermen on the water but it didn't seem crowded with the flow rate we had. Expedition Outfitters offers

fishing lesson with Diane and Rick from Austin Texas produced two new fly fishers. Theses two were smart and listened
carefully to the guide. They caught on quickly and graduated to a more advanced lesson. Expedition Outfitters

Guadalupe Fishing Guide Report and River Conditions: Saturday March 18, 2017; half day evening float
trip on the warmwater section in New Braunfels failed to produce the desired results for bass fishing. The water temps
were a little cool with overcast skies and cool temps all week. The flow was about 430 cfs with clear water conditions.

fishing lesson with Yvonne and her buddy Chris produced two new fly fishers. The weather was beautiful with clear blue
skies and temps in the mid 80's F. The release from Canyon Lake was 411 cfs with clear water conditions. GRTU
stocked brown trout last week and we're getting some good action from them. They are mainly slamming streamers and egg

Guadalupe River Fly Fishing Guide Report and River Conditions: Tuesday March 28, 2017; Canyon Lake Dam release
was 400 cfs with clear water conditions. There was a nice Trico hatch with an occasional rising fish but we got our's
on nymphs drifted in the deepest holes. Our best fly was the Trico drowned spinner. We also got a nice one on
a San Jaun Worm. Bob Roe and his lovely wife Linda joined us for a fun filled three mile float on the Guadalupe River.
They were new fly fishers but they managed to land several nice fish.

hour private fly fishing lesson with Jake and Jan from Austin produced two new fly fishers. The release from Canyon
Lake Dam was 400 cfs with clear water conditions. The water temp at mile 5.5 was 59 degrees F. There was a prolific
Trico hatch with an occasionally rising fish. Even with a good hatch there was no regularity to the rises and fish seemed
to just "pop up" in random places. Nymphing with drowned spinners would be the most effective method to target
these finicky fish.
Guadalupe River Fishing Guide Fishing Report and River Conditions: Tuesday April 4, 2017; morning half
day guided fly fishing trip with John Ullrich, Matt, Evan and Jim from San Antonio produced a couple of nice rainbows, sunfish
and huge carp. The release from Canyon Lake was 400 cfs with clear water conditions. The weather was perfect with
clear blue skies and comfortable temps in the 70's and low 80's F. There was a prolific Trico hatch and our flies were
hard to single out for the fish because of the shear size of the Mayfly bio-mass.

fly fishing lesson/guide trip with Elin and Leon from Austin produced two new fly fishers and a couple of nice Guadalupe Trout
too. The Canyon Lake release was 400 cfs with clear water conditions. The weather was perfect with clear blue
skies and temps in the low 70's F. There was another prolific Trico hatch but we didn't see any fish rising to eat the
bugs on the surface. The fish were devouring the bugs beneath the surface though. Expedition Outfitters offers

all of our trips this morning because of severe weather conditions. A slow moving cold front produced hail, lightning
and heavy rain. The Guadalupe River became flooded with chocolate runoff with the steep terrain producing spectacular

six mile float produced too many Guadalupe Rainbow to count. Tony and Ted joined us from Ohio and North Carolina respectively.
Luckily for the guide these guys were expert fly fishers. The weather was beautiful with temps in the 50- 70 degrees
F. range. The flow was 307 cfs with relatively clear conditions but stained chalky green. The best fly of the

our morning trip we had planned because of early morning thunderstorms. The weather turned out fine in the afternoon
and we had a good private fly fishing lesson with Jeane and Jane from Austin. They caught on quickly and was an easy
session with partly cloudy skies and temps in the low 70's F. The release from Canyon Lake Dam was 256 cfs with relatively
clear water conditions. Oh yea, there was a nice mayfly hatch today with BWO's and Trico's coming off.

lake Dam release was increased to 600 cfs today to bleed off excess water from recent rains. Canyon Lake is at 910 msl,
which is about a foot above the conservation pool. When the lake level is above 909 msl the US Army Corps of Engineers
controls releases and below 909 msl The Guadalupe Blanco River Authority controls releases. Gigi and Carol from Austin
joined us for a fun fly fishing lesson today. They were sharp ladies and caught on quickly. The weather was nice
with high temps in the low 70's F.

Coon and his brother Tom joined us for a six mile float from Rio downstream. We caught and released several nice Guadalupe
trout. Several jumped and tail walked across the water's surface. The hot fly of the day was a caddis emerger
dropped under a girdle bug. The flow was 600 cfs and there were several nice rapids. The day was beautiful with

making several nice rapids in places and boosting the catching. The weather was perfect with clear blue skies and high
temps in the mid 60's F.

day morning trip with Robert Abdon of MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston yielded quite a few fat Guadalupe Trout. The
largest approached 5 lbs and we had to chase her with the boat to keep from breaking off. Mind you...we were using 3x
fluoro and it barely got the job done. The weather was overcast with temps in the high 40's and low 50's F. The
release from Canyon Lake Dam was 600 cfs with relatively clear water stained green and a bit chalky. Our best fly of
the day was an egg pattern.

40's and mid 50's F. There was a nice Trico hatch and the water was relatively clear with a chalky green stain. Expedition

Outfitters guide Kevin Stubbs hosted long time friends and clients Kerry Howell and Bill Cason from Austin for a six mile
float. The day started out with rain showers so we postponed our start time to 9:30 am. Turns out that was a good
call. We hooked quite a few fish on the float with nymphs. There was several good periods of Mayfly hatch activity.
The wind was gusting to 30 mph so it didn't seem like a continuous hatch but the wind could have dispersed the little

Trico hatch but very few fish rising. The catching was pretty slow but Jake managed to land a huge Guadalupe Rainbow
on an egg pattern and we hooked a few others.

release was 586 cfs. Overnight rains dropped several inches of rain in a short period last night. There were several
creeks flowing in with chocolate brown water. We rescheduled our trips today because of the adverse conditions and I'm
glad we did. The afternoon turned out nice with clear skies and comfortable temps in the 70's F but the river was still
